Life is sweet at times and bitter at times. Opening old wounds will only cause bitter times to increase in number and quality. Yet many times I find myself in situations forcing me to cause the beating muscle in my chest to bleed some more. Such situation is when I found out that someone who I dearly loved for over six years, cared for, invested in and helped to grow and prosper has allied with the enemy and is now mocking me in the worst possible way.
Relationships are investments in people; investment of time, effort, emotion and thought. This investment, contrary to other investments, is not for the development and gain of one's self, but the loftiest gift a person gives her or his other half out of pure love and respect. Yet, as any other investment, there is always the risk of losing it to the wild market out there. The mockery begins, however, when someone invests much in another person and then loses the investment to the enemy. Imagine a nation investing in education and research and after 20 years of hard work and the successful development of elite educated segment, this segment migrates to another country to serve another nation – not the ally or neutral one, but the wicked enemy. That in my opinion is treason. Betrayal is the right word to describe it. Receiving help and aid from someone then using it to fight them is biting the supporting and feeding hand, the lowest form of no-principles. But who am I to point and blame – I decided to invest in the wrong person, I should have been more careful. Business is business; I guess even in –some- relations. The business world is a cruel one and shows no mercy. It's too bad that investing in a friend turned to be an investment in the enemy. Too bad you chose to ally with the enemy, my-love. It is a pity to waste your skills with such a pitiful cause just so you can feel important. I gave what I gave out of love and out of love I advice you; do greater things with greater people like I know you can – not with wicked enemies of mine and yours, but with true friends who will appreciate your work. Remember, The praise of hypocrites is worthless. |
